Failure of the Ukrainian information war

General of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Serhiy Kryvonos in the recent interview with Yurii Bibik discussed the general situation at the front and Ukraine’s prospects for victory. Is it really possible to return Crimea? What is the main problem of the Ukrainian military leadership? What is the main task currently facing Ukraine?

Yurii Bibik: Sirskyi in this same interview says that the enemy has not achieved significant successes, Russia’s losses are greater than Ukraine’s, but Russia has an advantage in funding, and in certain directions, it’s a nightmare from our point of view.

They have an advantage in tanks, APCs, armored vehicles, and in personnel, obviously. I want to ask you, what could be the outcome of such a scenario where we know that the West is helping us but not to the extent we would like, and with the elections coming up, we don’t know what this could lead to. Mr. Serhii, should we also rely on ourselves in the future, or somehow motivate the West to provide more support, because I don’t want to spread pessimism, but at this rate, we might just keep retreating and retreating.

Serhii Kryvonos: Mr. Yurii, you are a journalist with extensive experience, and you monitor the media not only within the country but also abroad. Tell me, who represents Ukraine’s interests in the information space in Western countries? Where are the journalists with good English, German, Dutch, and French who would talk about the realities of the Russia-Ukraine war for at least 5 minutes a day on their channels?

There are none. So it’s not surprising that the government has specifically muted this and the West is getting used to this war. And we want them to help us. You want them to help us, then we must use those 5 minutes to tell and show all the horrors of the war, these lunar and Martian landscapes that the enemy is creating on Ukrainian lands, to show and constantly show the bodies of women and children who were raped and burned by Russians.

Why don’t we show this? Why does Israel show this and get significantly more help, even though the area of the war Israel conducts is slightly larger than the left bank of Kyiv, but the aid they receive is significantly more than Ukraine’s. That’s the whole answer.

There is a clear understanding of propaganda. And we must promote the problems of the war because the one who speaks first is right. The second one is always defending.

Unfortunately, we are neither first nor second; we are just mute. We are neither heard nor seen because we do not show or talk. It’s very simple.

And if we want to work and be heard, we must shape Western society’s perception of Ukraine’s problems – first.

Second, we must shape what could happen if Ukraine starts to lose.

Third, what will happen to them if Russia starts attacking them. These are three components.

The fourth component is what they need to do, what they need to give us in terms of ammunition, what they need to do with their economy, what they need to do with their army.

These are simple things, from four such components that we must convey information-wise to France, Germany, Britain, and America, and we must do this constantly. We don’t do this; this is the main problem. If we are for the war, for victory in this war, not for a shameful capitulation, our number one task is to convey this information correctly.

And we return to the beginning of our conversation, hey, who in the OP is responsible for information work?

Yurii Bibik: Unfortunately.
