Serhii Kulish advanced to the final of the individual rifle shooting event at the 2024 Olympics
Serhii Kulish advanced to the final of the individual rifle shooting event at the 2024 Olympics. This is Ukraine’s first shooting final at the 2024 Games.
Ukrainian shooter Serhii Kulish took third place in the qualification and qualified for the men’s rifle three-position final at 50 meters.
Kulish is the fourth Ukrainian shooter to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. Prior to that, the Ukrainian shooter failed to qualify for the 10-meter rifle event, where he finished 27th.
How did Kulish’s qualification in the three-position rifle shooting go?
To advance to the final, the Ukrainian needed to finish in the top eight. The competition format involved two series in three body positions (kneeling, prone, standing) with ten shots each.
Kulish’s best results were in the kneeling and prone positions, where he scored 199 out of a possible 200 points in each. He also scored 99 points in the first standing series, but in the second series, he made one shot in the eight-ring and three in the nine-ring, earning 194 points for the last series.
In the qualification round, Kulish finished third with a total score of 592, just two points behind the leader, Liu Yukun from China, who scored 594. This marks the second consecutive Olympic Games where Serhii Kulish has advanced in the 50m three-position rifle shooting event, having placed sixth in the Tokyo 2020 qualification.
The final for the 50m three-position rifle shooting event will take place on August 1st.
