Ukraine and the UK launch major LMM-RapidRanger project to strengthen air defense
Today, as part of the Ukrainian delegation led by the President of Ukraine, a strategic agreement was reached in the United Kingdom to launch the large-scale LMM-RapidRanger project aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s air defense.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov.
Under this initiative, Ukraine will receive over 5,000 LMM (Lightweight Multirole Missile) interceptors and their launch systems.
LMM are high-precision interceptor missiles proven effective in countering Shahed drones during battles from 2022 to 2024.
This agreement is one of the largest security and defense deals in Ukraine’s history. The £1.6 billion project is designed to reinforce Ukraine’s air defense until 2030. It is funded through a loan guaranteed by the UK Export Finance (UKEF) agency.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with the British company Thales, Ukrainian enterprises, and the UK government.
In addition to weapon supplies, the intergovernmental agreement includes localizing production and transferring technology, further strengthening Ukraine’s strategic independence in air defense.
A heartfelt thanks to the UK government and all partners for supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom!
