Ukraine and its partners agreed on the movement of 14 grain ships in the Black Sea

Ukraine and its partners agreed on the movement of 14 grain ships in the Black Sea. Russia will also be notified of the decision.

Ukraine, Turkey and the UN agreed on the movement of 14 grain ships in the Black Sea, reports the Joint Coordination Center. The UN and Turkey delegations will also provide personnel for inspections of 40 outbound vessels.

Russia, which has been blocking the movement of ships through the grain corridor since September, and announced the day before that it was suspending its participation in the grain agreement, will also be notified of the decision.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, 218 ships with food are currently blocked in the grain corridor. Today there was no movement of vessels through the grain corridor.

The requirements of the grain agreement provide for the inspection of inbound and outbound vessels carrying grain. Russia insisted on the inspections, alleging the empty vessels could supposedly transport weapons for Ukraine.

It should be noted that Ukraine did not sign a grain agreement directly with Russia. Kyiv and Moscow have parallel obligations to Ankara and the UN. Moscow has already stated that the agreements made by Kyiv, Ankara and the UN “do not bind” the aggressor to anything.

It should be recalled that on October 29, Russia announced about suspension of its participation in the grain agreement for an indefinite term. The Russian Federation accused Ukraine and Great Britain of “attacks” on the Black Sea Fleet ships in occupied Sevastopol, claiming that surface drones were allegedly launched from a grain carrier.

In fact, the aggressor country started preparing to withdraw from the agreement back in September, and as the date of the agreement’s extension approached (in November – ed.), it increasingly actively looked for an excuse. The West called on Russia to return to its duties and not provoke a new food crisis. In response, the Russian Federation offered to “completely replace” Ukrainian grain.
