Pryp’yat – the ghost town in Chornobyl exclusion zone

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The town of Pryp’yat is often referred to as a ghost city.

Built in 1970 by the same-name river it is located in less than 10 km from the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. The primary purpose of the newly built town was to accommodate the plant’s workers and their families. In November 2015 it had over 47,000 inhabitants. After the disaster at Chornobyl plant on 26 April 1986 the town’s population was evacuated. The town’s urban life ended.

EMPR presents the pictures of Pryp’yat in 2006 from its authors’ archives.
