Mass production of UAVs for the front allowed in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that will allow mass production of UAVs for the front line.

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution that will accelerate the creation and supply of unmanned aerial vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was stated by Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

“Today, the government has launched mass production of drones in Ukraine. A truly historic resolution has been adopted that will significantly accelerate the creation and supply of domestic drones to the frontline, and most importantly, create conditions for the rapid development of Ukrainian miltech. Within the Drone Manufacturing Coordination Center, we worked comprehensively with all Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. We have collected their pains and blockers and are moving systematically to resolve issues. Together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Strategic Industry and the SSSCIP,” he said.

According to Fedorov, decision will allow UAV manufacturers to develop more actively, scale up, reinvest profits, and compete with foreign companies. Instead of spending months on unnecessary paperwork and bureaucracy, UAVs will be approved for operation, purchased and delivered to the frontline in a faster way.

“It’s important that the resolution fundamentally changes the government’s approach to the small business itself. Previously, the profit margin on foreign components was 1%, and 30% on domestic goods and services. This regulation hindered the development of Ukrainian manufacturers, encouraging them to move abroad or manipulate documents. This had to be changed. In order to stimulate the development of UAVs in Ukraine and attract more companies to produce, scale, and increase the level of localization of components, the government raised the profit share to 25%. A month ago, we already removed the problem of expert control of dual-use goods by adopting a fast-track for drones. And now we can officially say that the Army of Drones project has grown from a conditionally volunteer project into a large-scale state program to support the development of the domestic UAV market. This is a direct path to victory and saving the lives of our defenders,” explained the Vice Prime Minister.
