Film starring Emir Kusturica who publicly supported Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and Crimea annexation to be displayed during Italian film week in Kyiv.

“The Ice Forest” film (“La foresta di ghiaccio”) of 2014 by Claudio Noce starring Emir Kusturica is one of the four films that are in the programme of the Italian Film Week. The movie will be showcased twice over the period of 3-9 March at the film week.

Emir Kusturica has publicly expressed his support to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and to the annexation of Crimea. In July 2015 a concert in which the Serbian artist was supposed to participate was canceled after Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture appealed to the Security Service and the Ministry of Interior.

The Italian Film Week is an annual event awaited and highly appreciated by Kyivites. It is supported by the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine. The event is to be held in “Kyiv” cinema – one of the city’s leading cultural centers. The Italian Film Week has got media partners that broadcast nationwide. Until now no official comments were made as to participation of the film in question in the programme.
