Clashes at Poroshenko supporting rally

Clashes occurred beween representatives of the National Corps and police at the rally in support of presidential candidate, incumbent President Petro Poroshenko, in Ivano-Frankivsk.




In the center of Ivano-Frankivsk before the rally in support of presidential candidate, incumbent President Petro Poroshenko, clashes occurred between representatives of the National Corps, National Militia and the police officers.

“Law enforcement officers separated the parties to stop the conflict. As of 6:30 pm, there are no victims,” ​​police reported.

According to the Ivano-Frankivsk media outlet “Kurs,” representatives of the National Corps and the National Militia came to the meeting prior to President’s arrival. They had banners “Svinarchuks – behind bars!” The members of the National Corps and National Militia demanded over the loudspeaker: “to punish Svinarchuks who profit from the army,” referring to the persons involved in the defense sector corruption scandal, Oleh Hladkovskyi and his son Ihor, who used to bear the surname Svinarchuk. Local residents who came to the meeting with Poroshenko shouted in response: “Gang, get out of the city!”

The police took the protesters into the ring and pushed them back from the stage.

On March 9, in Cherkasy ​​ the National Corps and National Militia representatives clashed with the police. They tried to break through the cordon of law enforcement officers to President Petro Poroshenko, who was in the region on a working visit. During the clashes, 22 police officers were injured, as well as Valery Lyuty, the regional police chief.

Before that, there were clashes between law enforcement officers and the National Corps representatives near the Presidential Administration in Kyiv. During the rally, representatives of the National Corps made a number of demands – in particular, to arrest former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleh Hladkovskyi and his son Ihor.

On March 13, the National Corps tried to picket the President during his visit to Chernihiv. Petro Poroshenko walked through a crowd of picketing representatives of the National Corps, against the instructions of his guards.

On March 16, in Poltava, representatives of the National Corps started a scuffle with law enforcement officers before President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko came to Theater Square.
