Worked under fire: Rescuers killed in Kyiv while responding to aftermath of attack

On June 6, rescuers in Kyiv were killed while working under fire to help people following a Russian attack.

This was reported by 24 Kanal, citing Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

The attack on Kyiv on June 6: rescuers killed

The minister stated that during the night, Russian missiles and drones deliberately targeted civilian and critical infrastructure. Emergency services — the State Emergency Service (SES) and police — responded to every call for help.

Unfortunately, there are again losses in the Ministry of Internal Affairs family. This terrorist attack took the lives of rescuers.

Three SES rescuers were killed in Kyiv while eliminating the consequences of enemy strikes. They worked under ongoing shelling to assist people. Nine other emergency workers were injured, some seriously, and doctors are fighting for their lives,

— said Ihor Klymenko.

He also reported that five rescuers were injured while extinguishing a fire in the Ternopil region. All are receiving medical care.

“A deep bow to our fallen heroes without weapons. Brave, loyal to the Oath, devoted to the cause of rescue. Wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded,” the minister said.

Attention!

The Interior Minister stated that across Ukraine, three people were killed during the night as a result of the Russian attack, and about 40 were injured.

Klymenko emphasized that the price of our resistance is life itself, but the strength lies in the people who hold the country together while risking their lives.

Who were the rescuers killed in Kyiv?

The State Emergency Service reported that three firefighter-rescuers died as a result of the terrible Russian attack:

  • Pavlo Yezgor
  • Danylo Skadin
  • Andriy Remennyi

The Russians took the lives of people who were the first to rush to eliminate the consequences of the terrible strike. People who went out on their usual shifts, as always — ready for battle. Before going to work, they kissed and hugged their wives and children… and never returned…

— the State Emergency Service wrote with sorrow.

They also expressed their condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.
