Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of June 13, 2016

Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of June 13, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) Number of Russian armed forces attacks in southeast Ukrainesed over the last day, the enemy opened fire in total 40 times upon Ukrainian troops positions, in particular: 1 time on Luhansk direction, 27 times on Donetsk direction and 12 times on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian armed forces violated ceasefire regime near Novozvanivka;
(3) Donetsk direction: the hottest spots on this direction reported near Donetsk airport, Horlivka agglomeration and Svitlodarska line; the enemy uased mortar launchers all across the frontline; in particular, several Russian army shelling from 820mm, 120-mm mortars, heavy machine guns and grenade launchers as well as sniper fire took place near Avdiivka; number of Russian shelling at Butovka mine decreased, but the enemy fulfilled heavy mortar shelling there; Ukrainian positions near Zaytseve have been shelled by Russian forces from 120-mm artillery and APCs; the enemy firing from mortars upon Ukrainian troops in Mayorsk; Russian armed provocation with mortars, grenade launchers, antiaircraft installation, large caliber machine guns and APCs also reported on the west from Horlivka near the villages of Leninske, Troyitske and Novgorodske; Russian artillery attack at the village of Artemov resulted death of civilian woman; Russian shelling from mortar launchers and armored vehicles also reported in the village of Luhanske; it worth mention, Russian armed forces and militants intensify shelling at residential areas recently; to this end, Russia forces released 159 mortar mines and 6 artillery shells on this direction;
(4) Mariupol direction: number of Russian attacks decreased twice; Maryinka and Krasnogorivka came under the enemy fire, in particular, Russian forces released mortar mines, opened fire from grenade launchers and antiaircraft installation there; Russian sniper fire reported 2 times on this direction; to this end, Russian armed provocation reported near Hnutove, Talakivka, Vodyane and Shyrokino;
(5) 1 Russian UAV was spotted over the sky in Avdiivka industrial area;
(6) Russian forces’ losses in the war zone for the last day are as follows: 2 killed and 4 wounded;
(7) Russia supplies its armed forces and proxies in southeast Ukraine with arms, in particular: 70 military trucks with ammunition crosses the border (Izvarybe) into Ukraine toward the town of Krasnodon;
(8) No killed in action, but 3 Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours – officials from the ATO press center report;

  • From the on going it looks like Ukraine is doing more killings than the Russians and therefore more active. No wonder there is no progress to Minsk agreement and Ukraine might just wait for the military solution as the balance sheet looks favorable.
