Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of July 5, 2016

Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of July 5, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone intensified. Russian armed forces and their proxies opened fire 63 times upon Ukrainian troops positions, in particular: 2 times on Luhansk direction, 33 times on Donetsk direction and 28 on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian forces continue shelling near Novozvanivaka, Popasna district, with the use of mortar fire;
(3) Donetsk direction: the enemy violated ceasefire regime near Troytske and Luhanske; Russian forces actively used mortar and cannons on the north and on the west of Horlivka; in particular, 3-hours-long Russian firing reported in Toretsk and its suburb, which resulted demages of the residential houses, gas network, but no casualties reported among civilians; in the meantime, self-propelled artillery guns, operated by Russian occupiers from the village of Golmivsky, released 57 shells at Zaytseve of and the village of Dacha; the most active Russian hostilities unfolded in Avdiivka industrial area and near Donetsk airport, which resulted 1 civilian injury; Russian forces mortar shelling reported in nevelske; Ukrainian troops were forces to return fire all across the frontline from Luhanske to Pisky; to this end, 20 times Russian forces opened fire upon Ukrainian troops positions from forbidden by the Minsk agreements heavy weapons;
(4) Mariupol direction: Russian armed forces continue heavy mortar shelling; the enemy released 120 mines upon Ukrainian positions in Krasnogorivka, Maryinka, and Hnutove – Shyrokine line; the enemy’s rocket hit a private house in Maryinka, which resulted its numerous demages, but no ceasulties reproted among civilians; Russian forces episodically used APCs as well as Russian anti-tank guided missiles; pure ceasefire from the Russian occupeirs’s side reported near Dokuchaevsk only, because OSCE mission visit; to this end, 10 times the enemy opened fire from heavy forbidden weapons;
(5) Russian forces losses in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last day are as follows: 7 killed and 6 wounded;
(6)  3 Ukrainian servicemen was killed in action and 13 servicemen were wounded in action in southeast Ukraine over the last day.
