Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of July 12, 2016

Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of July 12, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone remain tense. Russian armed forces and their proxies dramatically increased number of attacks, in particular they opened fire 56 times upon Ukrainian troops positions, in particular: 8 times on Luhansk direction, 23 times on Donetsk direction and 25 on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: 122-mm artillery ans 120-mm mortars have been used by Russian occupiers during attacks at Novooleksandrivka; Russian occupiers initiated firefight in Stanytsya Luhanska, as result one residential house totaly burned; Russians used anti-tank guided missiles and grenade launchers in Popsna, which reported as the hottest spot on this direction; to this end, 6 of 8 Russian firing reportedly fulfilled from heavy forbidden arms;

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian forces used forbidden 120-mm mortars while firing at Ukrainian positions in Avdiivka, Dacha and Mayorsk; the enemy used 82-mm mortars against Ukrainian troops in Butivka, Avdiivka and Zaytseve; 30-min combat between Russian occupeirs and Ukrainian troops took place near Troytske; to this end, Russian occupiers used anti-aircraft installations, armored vehicles and small arms at Donetsk direction; Russian sniper fire reported in Luhanske, Novgorodske and Avdiivka industrial area; to this end, 8 of 22 Russian firing fulfilled from heavy weapons;

(4) Mariupol direction: the hottest spot reported near Shyrokino, where the enemy opened fire with 120-mm mortars, grenade launchers, hight caliber machine guns and small arms; Krasnogorivka, Pavlopol and Slavne came under 82-mm mortar Russian fire; Russian mortar and sniper fire reported at Krasnogorivka – Maryinka line and Shyrokino; another hit spots reported in Dokuchaevsk, Novogrygorivka and Pavlopil; to this end, 5 mortars and 6 sniper Russian firing reported on this direction;

(5) 7 Russian UAVs were spoted over the sky at the Ukrainian territory in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian intelligence reports;

(6) Russian forces’ losses in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last day are as follows: 4 killed and 3 wounded;

(7)  2 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action, 4 servicemen were wounded in action in southeast Ukraine over the last day.
