Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of July 10, 2016

Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of July 10, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone intensified. Russian armed forces and their proxies opened fire 51 times upon Ukrainian troops positions, in particular: 5 times on Luhansk direction, 24 times on Donetsk direction and 22 on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian armed forces opened fire upon Ukrainian troops positions near Stanytsya Luhanska with grenade launchers, high caliber machine guns and small arms, which resulted damages of residential house; Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka also came under Russian fire;

(3) Donetsk direction: the hottest spot remains in Avdiivka industrial area, where Russian armed forces released 104 mines from forbidden by the Minsk agreements 82-mm and 120-mm mortars as well as used grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms; the enemy used armored vehicle while shelling at the village of Opytne; Russian firing at Svitlodarska line didn’t stop; the enemy opened fire from heavy 122-mm cannons, mortars and armored vehicles upon Ukrainian troops positions in Luhanske; Russian forces used mortars and APCs during shelling near Svitlodarsk, while mortars and heavy artillery during shelling near Travneve; situation is tense in Horlivka; in addition, the enemy used grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms in Zaytseve and Novgorodske; another Russian firing reported near Novoselivka Druha;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian armed provocations and shelling reported all across the frontline; the enemy fulfilled attacks with mortars, grenade launchers and small arms at Maryinka, Krasnogorivka, Chermalyk and Shyrokino; besides, Russian forces used APCs fire near Krasnogorivka; Russian armed provocations reported near Bogdanivka and Talakivka; to this end, Russian sniper fire reported in Novotroytske;

(5) Russian forces’ losses in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last day are as follows: 2 killed and 5 wounded;

(6)  3 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action, 16 servicemen were wounded in action in southeast Ukraine over the last day.
