Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of August 5, 2016

Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 5, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in southeast Ukraine is tense. Russian armed forces and their proxies opened fire 42 times upon Ukrainian troops positions over the last day, in particular: 2 times on Luhansk direction, 21 times on Donetsk direction and 19 times on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian armed forces opened fire with grenade launchers and small arms in Nozvanivka and Lopaskino;
(3) Donetsk direction: the enemy opened mortar and machine-gun fire upon Ukrainian positions in Avdiivka and Nevelske; Russian APC’s fire reported 16 times in Zaytseve and Nyzhne Lozove; in addition, Russian forces used antitank missile system during firing at Opytne; APCs fire, large caliber machine guns and sniper fire used by the Russian occupiers against Ukrainian forces in Luhanske; Russian active mortar shelling reported also upon Ukrainian positions in Svitlodarsk; to this end, 8 times the enemy violated ceasefire regime with heavy weapons on this direction;
(4) Mariupol direction: 3-hours-long Russian occupiers attack with the use of mortars of various calibres, grenade launchers, machine guns and APCs against Ukrainian troops reported near Vodyane, where the enemy released in total 55 mines; the enemy fulfilled attacks with grenade launchers upon Ukrainian positions in Krasnogorivka, Taramchuk and Hranitne; Russian forces opned fire with antiaircraft installations near Maryinka; the enemy used mortar fire in Novotroytske and Pavlopol; Russian snipers fire were spotted near Maryinka and Shyrokino; Ukrainian troops repelled back attack of 8 Russian subversives near Bogdanivka;
(5) 3 Russian UAVs were spotted over the sky in the war zone, Ukrainian intelligence reports;
Russia continues supply of its regular troops and proxies in southeast Ukraine with weaponry and ammunition, in particular: Russian military echelon with 2 wagons of anti-tank and land mines, 6 wagong with ammunition, 1 – with
medical supplies and  1 – with uniforms arrived to Illovaysk railway hub.
(6) Russian forces’s losses in the war zone over the last day are as follows: 5 killed and 3 wounded;
(7)  No lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian servicemen, but 2 servicemen were wounded in action in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
