Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of August 16, 2016

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 16, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in southeast Ukraine reamains tense, but number of Russian attacks slightly decreased over the lat day. Russian hybrid forces opened fire 48 tines upon Ukrainian troops positions, including 8 times on Luhansk direction, 23 times on Donetsk direction and 17 times on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian force opened fire all across the frontline; Russian occupiers used grenades launchers of different systems and heavy machine guns in Novooleksandrivka, Zhovte and Zolote; the enemy’s 2-hours-long sheeling with forbidden 120-mm mortars reported in Stanytsya Luhanska; Russian occupiers fired with small arms in Stary Aydar and Katerynivka; Russian sniper fire reported in Zhovte;

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian occupiers released more than 160 mines of forbidden caliber upon Ukrainian troops positions in Avdiivka industrial area, Zaytseve and Mayorsk, where the enemy also fired with grenade launchers and large caliber machine guns; the hottest spots reported in Avdiivka and Horlivka; Ukrainian positions in Novgorodske and Kirovske came under Russian mortars, grenade launchers and machine-guns fire; tense atmosphere reported also in Novotroyitske and Nuzhne Lozove; Russian forces used APCs fire in Luhanske, Verkhnyotoretske and Novgorodske;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian hybrid forces opened fire with forbidden heavy 122-mm artillery in Novoselivka; the enemy shelling with heavy 120-mm and 82-mm mortars reported in Taramchuk,Talakivka, Krasnogorivka and Vodyane; in particular, the enemy released 100 mortar mines in Taramchuk; Russian occupiers used machine gun fire against Ukrainian troops in Maryinka; the enemy opened fire with armored vehicles in Krasnogorivka and Shyrokino; Russian sniper fire reported in Novotroyitske; 20-minutes combats between Russian subversives and Ukrainian troops took place in Bogdanivka, Ukrainian forces repelled the attack, but 2 Ukrainian servicemen were wounded;

(5) 4 Russian UAVs were spotted over the sky in the war zone in eastern Ukraine during the last day;

(6) 200 sets of Ukrainian uniforms delivered by Russian FSB to the Russian hybrid forces in eastern Ukraine for further provocations, Ukrainian intelligence reports;

(7) Russian hybrid forces losses in the war zone in southeat Ukraine over the last day are as follows: 7 killed and 9 wounded;

(8) No lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian serviceman, but 8 (!!!) serviceman were wounded in action in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
