Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of August 15, 2016

Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 15, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in southeast Ukraine intensified again. Russian hybrid forces launched 64 attacks over the last day and opened fire 59 times upon Ukrainian troops positions, including 8 times on Luhansk direction, 23 times on Donetsk direction and 28 times on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian forces opened fire with forbidden by the Minsk agreements 122-mm self-propelled artillery and 120-mm mortar launchers in Popasna; the enemy’s attacks with 82-mm mortars, machine guns of large calibers, heavy machine automatic guns, grenade launchers and small arms took place in Novooleksandrivka and Novozvanivka; Russian sniper fire reported in Zhovte; Russian subversives (3-6 perrsons) attempted to seize Ukrainian checkpoint in Novooleksandrivka with the use of heavy machine guns and small arms fire, but Ukrainian troops repelled the attack;

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian occupiers launched mortars (forbidden types), grenades and machine-guns attacks upon Ukrainian defenders in Avdiivka; the enemy used easel automatic grenade launchers, 82-mm mortars, large caliber machine guns against Ukrainian troops at Svitlodarska line; Ukrainian positions near Leninske came under Russian machine guns and grenade launchers fire; Russian sniper fire also reported in Verkhnyotoretske;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian occupiers used forbidden 122-mm artillery near Novoselivka; the enemy opened fire with 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers and machine guns of large calibers in Taramchuk; Russian grenade launchers fire reported in Vodyane, Hnutove and Shyrokino; Russian provocations with small arms took place in Krasnogorivka, Starognativka and Bohganivka; Russian occupiers actively used armored vehicles in Shyrokino, Talakivka, Maryinka and Vodyane;

(5) Russian hybrid forces losses in the war zone in southeat Ukraine over the last day are as follows: 3 killed and 3 wounded;

(6) No lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian serviceman, but 1 serviceman were wounded in action in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
