Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of April 24, 2016

Ukraine war updates on April 24, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in eastern Ukraine intensified again, Russian forces increased number of shelling with mortars and armored vehicles upon Ukrainian positions all across the frontline; in particular, they opened fire in total 41 times over the last day; The enemy fired 14 times on Donetsk direction, 30 times on Mariupol direction and  1 time on Luhansk direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: the enemy violated ceasefire regime in Popasnyanskiy district;

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian forces continue shellings at Svitlodarska line, Zaytseve, near Avdiivka, Donetsk airport and Pisky; in particular, the enemy used forbidden 120-mm and 82-mm mortars against Ukrainian troops near Avdiivka; occupiers also used grenade launchers, machine guns and small arms against Ukrainian troops positions;

(4) Mariupol direction: the hottest spots reported in Maryinka, Novotroyitske and Shyrokino; Russian armed forces fired from forbidden heavy arms 6 times and used sniper fire;

(5) 3 Ukrainian servicemen killed in action and 6more servicemen wounded in action in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
