Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of April 18, 2016

Ukraine war updates on April 18, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in eastern Ukraine is tense. Russian armed forces opened fire about  times upon Ukrainian troops over the last day; in particular, 45 times on Donetsk direction,  29 times on Mariupol direction and 5  times on Luhansk direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: the enemy violated ceasefire regime all across the frontline from Stanytsya Luhanska to Popasna; Russian forces opened fire upon Ukrainian positions once with the use of heavy arms;
(3) Donetsk direction: no positive changes reported on this direction over the last day; the enemy actively used APCs and mortars all across the frontline; Svitlodarska line, north suburb of Horlivka, industrial area of Avdiivka and Donetsk airport remains the hosstest spots on Donetsk direction; to this end, each 3rd Russian shelling fulfilled from forbidden heavy arms;
(4) Mariupol direction: the number of Russian firing intensified over the last day; the hottest spots reported in Maryinka, Shyrokino and Dokuchaevsk suburb [in particular, Ukrainian cross points on Donetsk – Mariupol highway]; the enemy used two times forbidden by the Minsk aggreements mortar fire and once self-propelled howitzer 2S1 Gvozdika; to this end, Russian forces released 20 mines and 20 rounds upon Ukrainian troop positions;
(5) Ukrainian forces shot down Russian UAV Zala 421-08M near the village of Novoselivka in Donetsk Oblast; it worth mention, that after UAVs flights number of Russian shellings upon Ukrainian positions as usual rapidly increases;
(6) Ukrainian intelligance reports on the following looses among Russian armed forces and their proxies in easter Ukraine: 7 killed and 3 wounded yesterday, and more than 100 killed near Avdiivka over the last 1,5 months;
(7) The losses of Ukrainian troops over the last 24 hours in the war zone in eastern Ukraine are as follows: 1 Ukrainian serviceman killed as hit a mine in Stanytsa Luhanska,  there no lethal casualties in action, but 1 serviceman wounded in action near Pisky and 1 Ukraine border guard also wounded in Stanytsa Luhanska.
