Ukraine counter offensive: official digest. June 5, 2023

The offensive began in some directions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, – Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar anounced today.

This is the first official message indicating that many rumours were right. Counter offensive operation to liberate the whole Ukrainian territories from the russian occupation forces has began.

While Ukrainian defenders with the endless support from our partners were preparing for this most important stage of the war, the announcement of marking this day was preceded by powerful media support asking all who involved to keep silence about ZSU plan.

“We are continuing the defense that began on February 24, 2022. The defensive operation includes everything, including counteroffensive actions. Therefore, in some areas, we are moving to offensive actions,” Hanna Malyar explained.

She also added that the Bakhmut direction remains the epicenter of hostilities.

Later, she posted very prominent image with the settlement Bakhmut on the map.

At 6:10 p.m. kyiv time, Hanna Maliar wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced 200-1600 m in the direction of Orihovo-Vasylivka, Paraskoviivka (the settlements north-west from Bakhmut) and 100-700 m in the direction of Ivanivske-Klishchiivka (the settlement south-west from Bakhmut), all in Bakhmut area.

Meantime, the Ministry of Defense urges that russian forces may widely use disinformation campaign about Ukrainian outer offensive with the use of the old photo and video footage.
