Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of January 3, 2018

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  January 3, 2018 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.


(1) Despite of the new Minsk aggrements of the Christmass/New Year ceasefire in the war zone in eastern Ukraine, Russian hybrid forces launched 8 times upon Ukrainian troops positions over the last 24 hours;
(2) Donetsk direction: Russian proxies fired with high caliber machine guns and small arms upon Ukrainian troops positions near Avdiivka; the enemy attack with forbidden 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers and other types of infantry weaponry took place near Verkhnyotoretske; 1-hour-duration Russiann armed forces shelling with 82-mm mortars, APCs and small arms reported in outskirts of Hnutove;
(3) Mariupol direction: Russian occupiers longest shelling (from 6pm until midnight) with the use of grenade launchers and small arms reported in the area of Vodyane;
(4) No lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian servicemen, but 2 Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action (near Avdiivka and Vodyane) for the past day.
