Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of January 16, 2018

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  January 16, 2018 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.

(1) Russian hybrid forces violated ceasefire 3 times in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the past day.

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian occupiers shelling of Ukrainian forces with the use of grenade launchers and machine guns took place in the area of Zaytseve.

(3) Donetsk and Mariupol directions: Russian proxies launched attack and released 5 mortar mines of 82-mm caliber, fired with high caliber machine guns and small arms upon Ukrainian troops in Shyrokino. The enemy’s 2 hours-long shelling with the use of grenade luanchers, machine guns and small arms upon Ukrainian positions reported in Kamyanka.

(4) Neither lethal casualties reported among Ukrainian troops, no Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the past day.
