Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  December 23, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.



(1) Russian hybrid forces violated fired 22 times in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 8 times on Luhansk direction and 14 times on Donetsk and Mariupol directions; Ukrainian Armed forces returned fire in 12 cases;
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian proxeis fired during 1 hour upon Ukrainian positions in Zaytseve with the use of forbidden 120-mm mortar launchers and APCs fire; the enemy launched attacks with the mentioned 120-mm mortar launchers, APCs as well as with all types of infantry weaponry near Luhanske and Travneve; Russian occupiers fired with high caliber machine guns, forbidden 122-mm artillery systems, APCs and grenade launchers upon Ukrainian defenders in the area of Novooleksandrivka, Staruy Aidar and Troytske;
(3) Donetsk and Mariupol directions: Russian occupiers launched tank attack in Pisky and released 20 shells and 60 mines upon Ukrainian troops positions; the enemy fired with forbidden 120-mm mortar launchers upon Ukrainian troops in Lebedynske and Vodyane; tense situation reported in Avdiivka, where the Russian proxies launched hot battles with the use of all types of infantry weaponry; the enemy fired with 120-mm and 82-mm mortar launchers in Pishchevyk and Pavlopol;
(4)  1 Ukrainian serviceman was killed in actions near Staruy Aydar. We express our condolences to the relatives & warriors who gave their lives for Ukraine. 2 more Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action (in the area of Avdiivka and Zaytseve);
