Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of August 26, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) The situation in the war zone in eastern Ukraine remains tense, but the number of Russian attacks decreased over the last day. Russia’s hybrid forces opened fire 48 times upon Ukrainian troop positions, including: 9 times on Luhansk direction, 18 times on Donetsk direction and 21 times on Mariupol direction;

(2) Luhansk direction: Russian forces launched 2 attacks at Stanytsya Luhanska with the use of mortar launchers and armored vehicles; Ukrainian check point in Zolote came under Russian fire; Popasna District reprorted as the most tense on this direction,

(3) Donetsk direction: Russian occupiers launched heavy 152-mm artillery attack and released 100 shells upon Ukrainian forces positions in the village of Arkhangelske, which is located 20 km far from the front; the main firefights reported in Avdiivka industrial area, where Russian forces endless fire (with the use of artillery of various calibres and systems) reported during 10 hours; another Russian armed provocation took place in Luhanske, near Horlivka, at Pisky – Opytne front direction, where the enemy actively used mortar fire and armored vehicles;

(4) Mariupol direction: Russian forces continue active armed provocations with the use of mortar launchers in the area of Maryinka and Pavlopil – Shyrokine front direction;

(5) 3 Russian UAVs were spotted over the sky in the war zone (Luhansk and Donetsk directions) during the last day;

(6) Russian continues to supply its armed forces and proxies in eastern Ukraine; in particular, 1 echelon with ammunition arrived in Krasnodon railway station, while 4 tanks of diesel fuel arrived to Mospyne; in addition, servicemen of Russian regular armed forces arrived to the war zone, Ukrainian intelligence reports;

(7) 1 Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action and 2 servicemen were wounded in action in the war zone in southeast Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
