Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of August 16, 2017

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  August 16, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.

(1) Russian hybrid forces opened fire 33 times at Ukrainian troops in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours, including 10 times on Luhansk direction, 9 times on Donetsk direction and 14 times on Mariupol direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: Popasna district and Bahmoot road remains the hottest spots on this direction; Ukrainian troops positions near Troytske and Novooleksandrivka came under Russian fire; in particular, the enemy shelled 5 times and released 5 mines upon Ukrainian forces positions in Troytske; also, Russian proxies violated ceasefire with forbidden mortars 3 times in Krymske;
(3) Donetsk direction: Russian forces violated ceasefire in at Verkhnyotoretske and launched 2 attacks there, 30-min long with small arms and another one, 2-hours-long with the use of grenade launchers and high caliber machine guns and released 15 mines upon Ukrainian troops positions; Zaytseve and Svitlodarsk also came under Russiam proxies fire; to this and, Avdiivka remains the hottest spots on this direction as the enemy fulfilled 4-hour-long attacks there;
(4) Mariupol direction: Russian troops activities reported all across the frontline; in particular, the enemy fired with mortar launchers in Maryinka and Krasnogorivka; Russian occupiers mortar shelling upon Ukrainian troops positions reported in Novotroytske and Bogdanivka; Russian forces launched attacks with forbidden BM-21 Grad and mortars and released 30 mines and 4 GRAD missles rounds in Pavlopol; to this end, Russian fire also reported in Vodyane;
(5) No lethal casualties among Ukrainian servicemen, but 4 servicemen were wounded in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours.
