Russia – Ukraine war updates as of February 16, 2023

The operational update of the General Staff of Ukraine for the last 24 hours of Russia – Ukraine war as of 6:00 a.m., February 16, 2023.

Day 358 of the full-scale russian military aggression has begun.

During the past day, the russian occupies launched 3 missile and 18 air attacks, and 52 MLRS attacks on the Ukrainian soil. The russian enemy shelled civilian infrastructure in Donetsk and Kherson oblasts. The attacks caused casualties among civilian population.

There is a high probability of further russian air and missile strikes all over Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces concentrate main efforts on offensive operations on Kup’yans’k, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarsk directions; and in Hryanikyvka, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Maryinka, and Vuhledar.

Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled russian attacks in the area of more than 15 settlements, including Bilohorivka and Serebryansk forestry (Luhansk oblast); Fedorivka, Bakhmut, Diliivka, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Pervomais’ke, Maryinka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Prechistivka, and Novosilka (Donetsk oblast).

Volyn’, Polissya, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna districts: no signs of the formation of offensive groupings of the enemy were identified. The area of Yanzhulivka (Chernihiv oblast); Rozhkovichi, Tovstodubovo, Bilokopytove, Vovkivka, Volfyne, and Basivka (Sumy oblast); and Hraniv, Svitlichne, Strilecha, Vovchans’k, Zemlianka, Rublene, Krasne Pershe, Novomlyns’k, Dvorichna, and Kreidyanka (Kharkiv oblast) suffered enemy attacks.

Naumivka (Sumy oblast); Hranov and Udy (Kharkiv oblast) were subjects to cross-border attacks from the territory of the russian federation, that involved russian combat helicopters.

Kup’yans’k and Lyman directions: russian forces employed tanks, mortars, and artillery systems in the attacks against twenty settlements, including Hryanikyvka and Kucherivka (Kharkiv oblast); Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, Stelmakhivka, Nevs’ke and Chervonopivka (Luhansk oblast); Terny, Novoselivka, Spirne, Rozdolivka, and Stepove (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers conducted air strikes in the areas of Zhytlivka, Serebryansk Forestry and Bilohorivka.

Bakhmut directions: the areas of more than 20 settlements were subjects to mortar and artillery attacks, including Spirne, Vyimka, Rozdolivka, Fedorivka, Vasyukivka, Bilogorivka, Paraskoviivka, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Ivanovs’ke, Chasiv Yar, Stupochki, Predtechine, and Kurdyumivka.

Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions: 20 settlements came under tank, mortar and artillery fire, including Avdiivka, Vesele, Vodyane, Pervomais’ke, Nevels’ke, Krasnohorivka, Heorgiivka, Maryinka, Pobieda, Mykils’ke, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Prechistivka, and Zolota Nyva (Donetsk oblast). At the same time, the enemy carried out air strikes in the vicinities of Kam’yanka and Novomykhailivka.

Zaporizhzhia direction: more than 20 settlements suffered russian attacks, including Vremivka, Novopil’, Temyrivka, Malynivka, Chervone, Hulyaipole, Biloghirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, and Kam’yans’ke. russian airstrikes were reported in the areas of Novopol’ and Malynyvka.

Kherson direction: the city of Kherson came under enemy artillery fire, as well as the vicinities of more than 10x other settlements, including Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Kachkarivka, Zmiivka, Beryslav, Vesele, L’vove, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Tyaginka, and Berehove (Kherson oblast); and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).

The russian occupation forces shelled Chaplynka settlement (Kherson Oblast) on February 14th aiming to discredit Ukrainian Defense Forces and accuse them on deliberate attacks. According to witnesses, the rockets were coming from the south, from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

In Simferopol of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the local “Blood Center” has started mass collection of blood from civilians and delivery of blood from other blood transfusion stations of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Propaganda is also being actively carried out in institutions and institutions of all forms of ownership regarding the involvement of as many people as possible in blood sampling due to the heavy losses and injuries of the russian occupiers on all fronts of hostilities. Additional blood transfusion stations are opening in the Rostov, Belhorod and Voronezh regions.

During the past day, Ukrainian Air Force conducted 11 air strikes on the concentrations of russian troops and military equipment, as well as 5 air strikes against russian anti-aircraft missile systems. 1 russian Ka-52 attack helicopter has been shot down.

Ukrainian missile and artillery troops attacked 2 enemy command posts, 6 concentrations of russian troops and 2 ammunition depots.
