Russia – Ukraine war operational update of the General Staff of Ukraine for the last 24 hours of Russia – Ukraine war as of 6:00 a.m., April 23, 2023.

424 day of the russian large-scale invasion has begun.

During the past day, the Russian Federation launched 8 missile strikes, 37 air strikes and carried out about 45 attacks from rocket salvo systems on the positions of our troops and populated areas. There are dead and wounded among the civilian population, destroyed and damaged private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

The probability of further missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

The main efforts of the russian forces are focused on conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut, Avdyivka and Maryinka directions – 58 enemy attacks were repulsed.

The fiercest battles continue for Bakhmut and Maryinka.

On the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, during the day, the enemy carried out an airstrike on Orlykivka and shelled the settlements of Karpovychi and Khotiivka, Chernihiv Oblast; Ulanovka, Brusky, Stukalyvka, Volfine, Korenivka and Yunakivka in the Sumy Oblast, as well as Timofiivka in the Kharkiv Oblast.

Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Masyutivka, Synkivka, Kislivka and Berestov of the Kharkiv Oblast were hit by enemy artillery fire in the Krupyansk direction.

The enemy did not conduct offensive operations on the Lyman direction. Makyivka, Nevske and Bilogorivka of the Luhansk Oblast and Dibrova, Verkhnokamianske and Spirne of the Donetsk oblast were hit by artillery fire.

Fierce battles for the city of Bakhmut continue on the Bakhmut direction. Near the settlements of Hryhorivka, Khromov and Ivanivske, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions. Rozdolivka, Vasyukivka, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Gora, Diliivka, Zalizne, Severny, South, and New York of the Donetsk oblast were affected by enemy shelling.

On the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the areas of Novokalynovo, Donetsk oblast, without success. The following settlements in Donetsk Oblast also came under the russian fire: Novokalynov, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonenka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske.

On the Marinka direction, during the past day, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the Marinka area. In addition, Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk oblast came under enemy fire.

On the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy shelled Vugledar, Prechistivka, Novoukrainka, Zolota Niva and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk oblast last day.

The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations on the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. Over the past 24 hours, mortar and artillery fire has been carried out on more than 30 settlements. Among them are Vremivka, Zelene Pole of the Donetsk oblast; Gulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Gulyaipilske, Biloghirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka and Kamianske of the Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Sablukivka, Beryslav, Kozatske, Tokarivka, Ingulets, Inzhenerne, Antonivka, Bilozerka, Berehove, Kizomys of the Kherson Oblast and the city of Kherson.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out 8 strikes on areas where the occupiers were concentrated.

Also, an enemy Mi-24 helicopter and 4 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (2 reconnaissance – “Orlan-10” and “Zala”, as well as 2 kamikaze drones of the “Lancet” type) were shot down.

During the day, units of missile troops and artillery struck 4 areas of concentration of manpower, 2 ammunition warehouses and two more important military objects of the enemy.
