Russia – Ukraine war operational update of the General Staff of Ukraine for the last 24 hours of Russia – Ukraine war as of 6:00 a.m., April 21, 2023.

422 day of the russian large-scale invasion has begun.

During the past day, the russian Federation carried out 23 airstrikes. Tonight, the enemy used about 10 Shahed-136 type unmanned aerial vehicles (information to be clarified), 8 of which were destroyed by Ukrainian defenders.

Also, the russian aggressors fired 49 rocket salvo fire systems at the positions of our troops and populated areas. There are dead and wounded among the civilian population, destroyed and damaged private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

The probability of launching missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine remains quite high.

The enemy, at the cost of heavy losses, concentrates its main efforts on conducting offensive actions in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdyivka and Maryinka areas. During the past day, more than 60 enemy attacks were repulsed against them. The fiercest battles are being fought for the city of Bakhmut.

On the Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

During the past day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Yanzhulivka, Galaganivka, and Gremyachka of the Chernihiv Oblast; Stukalyvka and Pavlivka – in Sumy Oblast, as well as Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, Neskuchne and Khatny in Kharkiv Oblast.

Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne and Berestov of the Kharkiv Oblast were hit by enemy shelling in the direction of Kupyansk last day.

On the Lyman direction, the enemy tried to improve the tactical position, led unsuccessful offensive actions in the Serebryansk Forestry area. Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Dibrova and Bilogorivka in the Luhansk Oblast and Ivanivka, Verhnyokamianske and Spirne in the Donetsk Oblast have already come under artillery shelling.

On the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions.

Heavy fighting continues for the city of Bakhmut. Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Zaliznyanske, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Gora, Druzhba, Zalizne, Nelipivka and New York of the Donetsk Oblast were affected by enemy shelling.

On the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the Kamianka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske districts of the Donetsk Oblast, without success. Shelled, in particular, Keramik, Stepove, Kamianka, Tonenka, Severne, Karlivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske.

On the Marinka direction, our defenders repelled numerous enemy attacks in the Marinka and Pobeda areas of the Donetsk Oblast. At the same time, Krasnohorivka, Maksimilianivka, Georgiivka, Maryinka, Pobyeda and Novomykhailivka came under enemy fire.

On the Shakhtarsk direction, during the past day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Novoukrayinka, Velyka Novosilka, Zolota Niva, Prechistivka, and Vugledar of the Donetsk Oblast.

The enemy is defending in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. At the same time, during the day, it shelled more than 40 settlements. Among them are Olhivske, Malynivka, Orihiv, Novodanilivka and Novoandriivka of the Zaporizhia Oblast; Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Zmiivka, Ivanivka, Inzhenerne, Dniprovske of the Kherson Oblast and the city of Kherson.

During the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces made 6 strikes on the occupied areas, and units of missile troops and artillery hit 5 enemy control points during the day.
