Russia has deployed about 500 tactical combat aircraft along its border with Ukraine

Russian Federation has deployed about 500 combat aircraft and 340 helicopters along its border with Ukraine.

This has been said by representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Vadym Skibitsky at a briefing.

“Russia has currently deployed about 500 tactical combat aircraft and up to 340 army helicopters along its border with Ukraine,” Skibitsky said.

He noted the buildup of the aircraft group of the Russian Aerospace Forces near the state border of Ukraine. Since 2013, the Russian Federation has been modernizing its entire airfield network along the Ukrainian-Russian border, upgrading the fleet of combat aircraft, including the newest ones, and expanding the capabilities of army aviation.

According to him, the crews of tactical combat aircraft and helicopters have been participating directly in hostilities in Syria.

“This means that crews are ready to use army and tactical aviation, and in some cases, long-range aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces against our state,” he stressed.

Crews have enough experience to use bombs, and high-precision weapons against the civilian population. Skibitsky has noted, that the combat radius of aircraft deployed by Russia along its border with Ukraine covers the entire territory of the Ukrainian state.
Besides, there have been deployed 25 Russian battalion tactical groups capable of carrying out combat missions in our territory.
