NSC news & analysis center briefing at 12:30 July 08, 2015: highlights

News & Analysis Center of the National Security Council of Ukraine presents the latest updates from the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine on July 08, 2015 at its daily briefing.

(1) After a short ceasefire, combats in eastern Ukraine intensified again. Number of shelling from the enemy’s side increased twice over the last 24 hours. Situation remains tense in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts;

(2) Mariupol direction: Ukrainian forces position came under militansts’s fire numerous times over the last day. In particular, militants shell Hranytne and Novohryhorivka with heavy artilery and mortars. In addition, after the sunset the enemy fulfilled series of provocations using mortars and tansk near Pavlopol. No war action in Shyrokyne, but the village is completely destroyed;

(3) Donetsk direction: the enemy doesn’t stop provocations against Ukrainian positions near the village of Luhanske using heavy artilery and mortars. Ceasefire regime remains no more in the area of Horlyvka. A few armed provocations and mortars shelling were spotted near the village of Novgorodske, where is located strategically important railway hub Fenolna. In the meantime, pro-Russian militants start rotation to strengthen the enemy’s position in Horlyvka area. Maryinka (the village north from Donetsk) was a hot batterfield yesterday round-the-clock;

(4) Luhansk direction: situation remains tense, but under control. Militants intensifed their actions against Ukrainian forces near the village of Schastya and Stanytsa Luhanska. Some cases of ceasefire regime violation were spotted north of Pervomaysk – near the villages of Donetske and Solote;

(5) Over the last 24 hours 2 enemy’s UAVs were spotted over the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine;

(6) 2 Ukrainian servicemen killed and 10 got wounded over the last 24 hours.
