Date: December 20, 2017 – January, 2018
Venue: Taras Shevchenko National Museum , Blv Shevchenko, 12, Kyiv, Ukraine
Maria Prymachenko with her uniqueness and authenticity, except for a bit likeness with her contemporaries Katerina Bilokur and Mexican Frida Kalo, Maria Prymachenko became this year’s symbol of the New Year not only in the Kyiv New Year’s Town on Sofia Square, but also in
Taras Shevchenko National Museum.
Taras Shevchenko National Museum decided to show the inverse, hidden side of the artist’s works that it recently received for the collection from the Directorate of Art Exhibitions of Ukraine.
Prymachenko always signed her paintings simply “M. P. “, but on the back side unfolded another invisible world, which supplemented and provided new meanings to her paintings. These are fantastic titles-signatures that not well-educated (and Maria has only four years of study) artist created with a folk dialect in the form of tales, often rhymed. Very simple, humorous, childlike naive, they sound accurate, bright and relevant.
Within the framework of the exhibition at the atrium of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum there will be an interactive space Prima Maria: huge coloring with the images of animals and birds of Mary Prymachenko and a vivid photo zone with the wonderful characters of the artist, which was given to the museum by the shopping center Gulliver.
“Cosmic” world of Prymachenko will be supplemented with sculptures of hay – stencils from the Creative Workshop of Alexei Shevchuk “ArtBuz” and “Hutsul robots” Sergey Grigoryan.
