Russia has deployed chemical troops to guard the Crimean Bridge

Russia has even deployed chemical troops to guard the Crimean Bridge

Russia’s chemical troops are involved in guarding the illegal Crimean Bridge.

This was stated on Hromadske Radio by the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk:

“As for the land-based component, it includes the National Guard of Russia, the FSB, border guards, and even chemical troops.”

Air defense systems are also involved in protecting the Crimean Bridge. They are present in large numbers and vary in type, prepared to counter different kinds of threats. Regarding the maritime component, the illegal structure is guarded by the coast guard. Previously, the Black Sea Fleet was also involved in this, but it is no longer able to participate.

There have also been past instances when Russians prohibited illegal tourists from crossing the bridge. They blocked access and even forced civilian Russians to return to Russia through newly occupied territories.

“No less strange and tragic are the cases where citizens who lived in Crimea before the occupation are not allowed to leave. People are simply not permitted to leave the peninsula,” Dmytro Pletenchuk shared, speaking about the fate of Ukrainian citizens.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has carried out another unique special operation, striking the Crimean Bridge for the third time—this time underwater. The SBU reported that the operation took several months to plan and execute. SBU agents planted explosives on the bridge’s supports. At 4:44 a.m. today, the first explosive device was detonated, with no civilian casualties, as emphasized in the statement.

According to the SBU, the underwater support pillars were severely damaged at the seabed level—1,100 kilograms of explosives (TNT equivalent) were used. The bridge is now effectively in an emergency condition. The head of the SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, personally oversaw the operation and coordinated its planning, the statement said.
