In Zaporizhzhia, an underground school for 1,000 students was opened, where preschool children will also be able to study.
It became the seventh such school in the region, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.
The underground school is located in the Zavodskyi district of the city. It has an area of over 1,300 square meters and is designed for 1,000 students, who will study in two shifts.
“In just 7 months, a safe school with modern design, interactive equipment, and comfortable furniture has appeared in a densely populated area of Zaporizhzhia, where children can attend offline classes for the first time in 5 years,” Fedorov said.

The school has 15 classrooms, as well as a medical office, a lounge area, and a buffet offering healthy food.
It is autonomous and equipped with modern ventilation, surveillance cameras, and a fire alarm system.
Preschool children from a nearby kindergarten will also be able to study at this underground school.
Fedorov also added that the plan for 2025 includes building 25 underground schools in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Recall that the first underground school here opened in December 2024. It is located 7 meters underground and is designed to withstand missile strikes.
