Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  January 14, 2018 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.



(1) Russian hybrid forces launched 6 attacks against Ukrainian troops in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the past day. The enemy used forbidden by the Minsk aggreements hard weaponry, in particular mortar luanchers of 120-mm caliber and 122-mm artillery. Russian proxies released in total 6 artillery shells 0f 122-mm caliber, 17 mortar mines of 82-mm caliber and 32 mortar mies of 120-mm caliber. Ukrainian forces returned fire in one case only (with the use of small arms in the area of Verkhnyotoretsk).
(2) Luhansk direction: Russian proxies fulfilled 1 shelling and released 5 mines of 82-mm caliber upon Ukrainian troops near Novoluhanske.
(3) Donetsk and Mariupol directions: Russian occupiers fired 5 tines on this direction. Russian proxies attack Vodyane and released 6 rounds of 122-mm artillery, 15 mines of 120-mm caliber and used grenade fire against Ukrainian troops. The enemy released 6 mortar mines of 120-mm caliber upon Ukrainian defenders near Pavlopil. Russian forces fired with 120-mm mortars and released 11 mines upon Ukrainian troops in Butovka mine. The enemy’s attack reported in Kamyanka, where 12 mines of 82-mm caliber have been released upon Ukrainian troops. To this end, the Russian forces shelling with grenade launchers and small arms reported in Verkhnyotoretske.
(4) 1 Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in actions (near Verkhnyotoretske) for the last 24 hours in the war zone in eastern Ukraine.
