Russia – Ukraine war updates: daily briefings as of December 20, 2017

Russia – Ukraine war updates from the war zone in southeast Ukraine as of  December 20, 2017 by ATO HQ operational data and Ministry of Defence spokesman on ATO issues: EMPR highlights.

(1) Russian hybrid forces continue escalation in the war zone in eastern Ukraine as have launched 32 attacks upon Ukrainian troops positions as well as residential areas in the past 24 hours; Ukrainian forces returned fire in 23 cases;

(2) Luhansk direction: Residential areas of the city of Zaytseve came under Russian fire from forbidden BM-21 GRAD MLRS and released about 20 rockets upon civilian houses; the enemy launched another heavy attack with 120-mm mortar launchers upon Ukrainian troops positions in Troyitske; Russian proxies fired with mortar launchers in Novotoshkivske, Travneve, Novooleksandrivka, Novoluhanske and Troytske and released in total 64 mines of 120-mm caliber and rounds of 82-mm caliber; the enemy used small arms against Ukrainian troops in Zaytseve, Luhanske, Novooleksandrivka, Novotoshkivske and Stanytsya Luhanska; to this end, Russian proxies launched 10 attacks on this direction;

(3) Donetsk and Mariupol directions: Russian occupeirs fired two times with forbidden 120-mm mortar launchers upon Ukrainian positions in Pavlopol and released 10 mines there; the enemy’s attacks with 82-mm mortar launchers reported in Kamyanka, Novotroytske, Pisky, Butovka mine and Lebedymske; in total Russian proxies released 41 rounds there; Russian forces fired with all types small arms, high caliber machine guns and grenade launchers in Avdiivka; the enemy used grenade launchers and all types of infantry weaponry during their attacks in Verkhnyotoretske, Hnutove, Vodyane, Kamyanka, Novotroytske, Pavlopol and Statognativka;

(4)  2 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in actions in the war zone in eastern Ukraine over the last 24 hours. We express our condolences to the relatives & warriors who gave their lives for Ukraine. 4 more Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action;
