5 August 2016, Odessa activists held an event to remind Ukraine and the world about Ukrainian political prisoners kept in Russia, in particular, about Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov who was convicted to 20 years in prison and conveyed to Yakutsk.
Odessa activists read some of Sentsov’s biographical short stories and disseminated booklets with brief information about all known 29 Ukrainian prisoners kept by Russia either on the Russian territory or in occupied Crimea. The booklet was prepared by Let My People Go campaign.
‘This is abnormal, when citizens of one country are kept hostages by another’, says Vitalii Ustimenko, one of the organisers of the event. ‘We must never forget about this’.
