Ukraine war updates on April 5, 2016 by ATO HQ operational data and Presidential Administration spokesman on ATO issues briefing: EMPR highlights.
(1) Situation escalated in the war zone in eastern Ukraine: Russian armed forces opened fire 61 times during the day (which is 50% more than a day before) including 39 times on Donetsk direction, 11 times on Mariupol direction and 7 times on Luhansk direction;
(2) Luhansk direction: the enemy fulfilled a series of provocation in Stanytsya Luhanska; Russian forces opened mortars fire upon Ukrainian positions in the village of Novozvanivka (Popasnyansky districy);
(3) Donetsk direction: Zaytseve, Novgorodske and Avdyivka remains the hottest spots on this direction, where Russian occupiers actively used mortars, large caliber machine guns, grenade launchers and sniper fire; the enemy opened fire at Avdyivka 3 times, 2 times at Novgorodske and 2 times at Zaytseve yesterday; on the key sited of defence, where the distance between Russian armed forces and Ukrainian positions is minimal, warfare continues round the clock; ceasefire violation reported also on Svitlodarska line and near Donetsk airport; in general, 9 Russian shellings with the use of forbidden mortar fire took place on this direction;
(4) Mariupol direction: situation was tense all across the frontline; in particular, Ukrainian troops repealed Russian attack near Hranytne with the use of machine guns and small arms; Russian forces opened forbidden 120-mm mortar fire at Talakyvka, 82-mm mortars fire at Shyrokino and used mortar launcjers during attacks at Hranytne;
(5) Russian ‘military aid’ arrived to the occupied regions in eastern Ukraine again, Ukrainian intelligence reports: 18 tanks of fuel and lubricants (720 tonnes in total) and 8 military trucks with ammunition arrived to Krasnodon railway hub;
(6) Ukrainian police prevent terract at the railway in Bakhmutovsky disrtict of Donetsk Oblast: under the railway bridge 152-mm artillery shells with the plastid of total weigh about 200 grams was discovered;
(7) 2 Ukrainian servicemen killed in action and 10 wounded in action over the last day in the war zone in eastern Ukraine.
