Putin’s toasts with football legends ahead of World Cup

Date: Dec 1, 2017

Location: Moscow, Russia

Major football legends including Diego Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu, Fabio Cannavaro, Lothar Matthäus, Marco van Basten, Carles Puyol and others were incredibly happy to meet with Russian president Putin ahead of the Final Draw for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

That is basically the main reason why Russia needs to host the World Cup 2018 so desperately – to help Putin to come out of isolation by civilized world in which he appeared after he annexed Crimea and started the war in eastern Ukraine.

The current FIFA president Gianni Infantino decided not to take away from Russia the World Cup 2018 that Russia has bought from his predecessor Sepp Blatter: money has already been paid, so it is FIFA gentlemen’s responsibility to keep their word.

Gianni explains his decision by some statement like “sport should not be mixed with politics”, i.e. in the 21-st century he really thinks that sport has nothing to do with politics.
