Rally against the sale of the French military ships Mistral to Russia

Date: June 30, 2014

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

Over the past three months, Russia is actively directing and fueling a bloody confrontation in the East and South of Ukraine. Western governments have expressed deep concern and condemned the violence, this is just talking, no actions. While the French government expressed their support to Ukraine and deep concern over the Russian annexation of Crimea, it does not cancel the military deal with Russia and still make the selling of two ships «Mistral» class to Russia possible. It means that, while condemning Russia's military action, France at the same time, continuing to deliver ultra-modern, powerful, military equipment to aggressor.

Come to the local French Embassy to protest against this cynical deal. Join us and together we will ask French authorities to cancel the deal and to reaffirm their commitment to European values and the rule of law. Direct participation of Moscow in the military aggression in Eastern Ukraine is a fact. France risks becoming a direct ally of the country - terrorist by selling warships to aggressor. To sell weapons to a country that violated several international agreements, including the Budapest Memorandum, in which Russia was one of the guarantees of the territorial integrity of Ukraine is immoral.

We've heard enough about "deep concern." It is time to recognize the hard-hitting reality. We understand that it may be painful for Western governments, because the elimination of contracts will mean some heavy economic losses. But European governments - it is time to demonstrate your support, real European values and to show that money is not everything, and human life is more valuable than gold. While France may lose money, Ukraine has lost thousands of lives as a result of not declared war with Russia.

We urge the French government to break the deal and stop supporting the aggressor.
