No one is ready to accept the Russification of Georgia, a Georgia deprived of its Constitution, or a Georgia with an illegitimate parliament and government, says President Salome Zourabichvili in a special video address

She described the protests that erupted simultaneously and spontaneously as “unprecedented.” Addressing law enforcement officers, she reminded them of their responsibility for the ongoing events and urged them to fulfill their obligations without attacking citizens:
“There is nothing happening that requires dispersal.”

Zourabichvili also addressed the diaspora, expressing gratitude for their solidarity. She noted that one outcome of international protests was the statement by 135 employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs distancing themselves from the government’s “new pro-Russian policies.”

She further highlighted that more than 40 employees of the Ministry of Defense, 450 representatives from the education sector, 17 judges, over 100 employees of the Ministry of Justice, and more than 40 staff members of Adjara Public Broadcaster have expressed their dissent:
“This is a significant movement initiated in the public sector, which will gradually spread across all of Georgia. It shows that where people serve the state, the future, and Georgia’s interests the most, this protest has already emerged, and it will not stop.”

According to Zourabichvili, she remains committed to the protest that has engulfed the entire country:
“The resistance movement has begun. It started with you, without directives or requests from anyone. A peaceful and constitutional movement. It will continue until Georgia achieves its goal — returning to the European path and securing new elections.”
