Europe’s sudden shift: a political demarche against Trump?

In yesterday’s picture of the conflict between Zelensky and Trump, one detail keeps bothering me – how quickly nearly all of Europe sided with Zelensky. Why is this strange?

Firstly, recall how Macron, Starmer, and Trudeau spoke to Trump. They were all silk-tongued. Trump would bully them just as much as he did Zelensky, but they swallowed it all. Yet, their reasons for outrage were far better than Zelensky’s. There’s no French, British, or Canadian economy behind Zelensky – his is the ruined economy of Ukraine.

This is just further proof that Western politicians are hardly examples of courage. They are cowardly, or rather – extremely cautious. Remember their constant “deep concerns” about Moscow’s crimes against Ukraine?

And suddenly – such a bold move.

Secondly, does Europe have reasons to be dissatisfied with Trump? Of course! The conflict over Greenland – read, his attack on Denmark. The 25% tariff on European goods promised by Trump. And so on.

The White House definitely noticed this demarche from European leaders, and they are likely not happy about it. If the States are really interested in Ukraine’s rare-earth metals, France’s interest in these resources should infuriate them too. Pay attention: even Poland, which has always tried to avoid spoiling relations with the U.S., has supported Ukraine.

What kind of brave water did all European politicians suddenly drink?

I’m not claiming anything; I’m just speculating. What if Europe decided to stage a joint demarche against Trump and used Zelensky as a torpedo? Simply because they themselves lack resolve, and each one fears being left alone with Putin…

What if Europe has finally matured to speak loudly on the international stage – to counterbalance the U.S.? Just because European capitals are genuinely afraid that, after a breather, Putin will storm the Baltic States and Poland in a few years, and then everyone will have to fight.

If this is the case, then the dream of anti-globalists has come true. The world is indeed becoming multipolar. The era of U.S. dominance is fading, and Europe is finally rejecting left-wing utopianism and returning to the politics of the times of Charles XII, Frederick the Great, Napoleon, and Queen Victoria. It’s telling that France’s voice is especially loud right now – because France has every reason to tell the States, “I gave birth to you – I’ll send you off with the Russian ship.” And to remind “historian” Trump how Beaumarchais and Franklin organized the supply of French goods to Washington’s army.

If this is so, then we have some hope for a better future – at least Europe won’t abandon us. It will help and support. It is gearing up to arm itself and recover from hedonism. However…

Throw away any illusions. The war will continue, and Ukrainians will die. In this political circus, we are the acrobats under the dome. Other countries are the ones ordering acts and selling tickets. To enter their circle, we need… well, first, we need to learn how to build cause-and-effect connections. Not just idolize idols – the stage-circus ones.
