Trump rejects $50 billion deal with Ukraine: he doesn’t want to supply air defense systems even for money, – Bild

U.S. President Donald Trump does not want to help Ukraine, even in exchange for $50 billion from EU funds. He has rejected a corresponding beneficial deal and made new accusations against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This was reported by Bild, according to Censor.NET.

It is noted that Ukraine urgently needs new air defense systems to prevent further mass killings of civilians by Russia, similar to the recent missile attacks on Kryvyi Rih and Sumy.

Earlier, Zelensky proposed using EU financial aid and frozen Russian assets to purchase hundreds of Patriot missiles and other weapons. One missile for the Patriot system costs €5.5 million.

Overall, the Ukrainian president is ready to spend $50 billion on weapons.

“Give us a package that includes both air defense systems and other relevant tools — we will pay for it,” Zelensky told Ukrainian media.

The U.S. president, however, still seems more interested in fruitless negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin than in profiting from supplying weapons to Ukraine.

When asked by a journalist whether he plans to sell new air defense missiles to Ukraine, Trump responded:

“You know, he (Zelensky) always wants to buy missiles. But listen, if you’re going to start a war, you have to know you can win it. You can’t start a war against an enemy that’s 20 times bigger and then hope someone will give you missiles.”

In Ukraine, Washington’s refusal sparked outrage, notes BILD OSINT analyst Julian Röpcke: observers and activists say such a policy by Trump only enables the continuation of the bloodshed.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that Ukraine is ready to pay $15 billion for ten Patriot air defense systems.
