Propaganda Russian film “Deaf Lovers” to be shown at Tallinn Film Festival despite criticism
The film by Russian director “Deaf Lovers” will not be removed from the main program of the Tallinn Film Festival.
Organizers will not cancel screenings despite calls from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Film Agency, and the Odesa International Film Festival. This was stated by film director and PÖFF director Tiina Lokk, as reported by Suspilne. Culture.
“The film will be shown at PÖFF because it is artistically and thematically very striking and provides an opportunity to discuss important issues of the moment,” Lokk said.
She added that no one has seen the film yet, but in her opinion, a massive slander campaign has begun.
The statement mentions that “Deaf Lovers” is not considered a Russian film because its author, Boris Huts, left Russia after the start of the full-scale invasion and currently lives in Serbia.
At the same time, the film was removed from the “Standing with Ukraine” program.
