Italy will provide €13 million to support Ukraine’s energy system

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has received over €1 billion in contributions.

Italy will contribute €13 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The funds will be used to purchase equipment, carry out repairs, and strengthen Ukraine’s energy system amid Russian attacks. This was announced by the press service of Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy on Friday, February 28.

The agreement on Italy’s contribution to the fund was signed by the Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, in the presence of Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Roman Andarak.

Since its establishment in April 2022, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has received over €1 billion in contributions from partners. The fund’s donors include governments and businesses from over 30 countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as international and regional organizations.

“Over time, the fund has become an effective tool for providing international assistance in the energy sector, allowing Ukrainian energy workers to restore energy facilities after Russian attacks, carry out repairs, and install new capacities,” the ministry added.

As reported by ZAXID.NET, on February 28, Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy launched the “Ukrenergo” app, which will notify users about the state of the energy system in different regions. The app is available for download on Play Market and the App Store.
