The situation in the energy system has stabilized - Shmyhal
Currently, the situation in Ukraine’s energy sector has stabilized due to the early completion of repairs on two nuclear power plant units and a decrease in air temperature.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during today’s government meeting, according to Ukrinform, citing his Telegram.
“Thanks to the early completion of repairs on two nuclear power plant units and the decrease in air temperature, the situation in the energy sector has stabilized,” he said.
Shmyhal emphasized that there is still a power shortage in the system, and Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
The Prime Minister noted that preparations for the autumn-winter period and the development of alternative energy sources in the country are ongoing. He mentioned that programs for state support for the construction of distributed generation have already been launched.
According to him, there are initial examples of lending to businesses and individuals to enhance energy resilience.
“We are witnessing a steady demand for preferential loans from both small and medium-sized entrepreneurs as well as households,” he emphasized.
Shmyhal also reminded that the President signed a law abolishing import duties and VAT on energy equipment: the law came into effect on July 27. From now on, citizens and businesses can import generators, inverters, batteries, and charging stations under a preferential regime.
As reported by Ukrinform, the government aims to get through the upcoming heating season using domestically produced gas and plans to increase the volume of fuel in gas storage facilities to over 13 billion cubic meters by November.
