The Investigative Commission for the Protection of Military Personnel’s Rights has proposed disbanding the Territorial Recruitment Centers
The Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC) conducted an investigation into cases of beatings and bodily harm inflicted on mobilized personnel, including incidents that resulted in fatalities. The commission recommended disbanding the TRCs and establishing recruitment centers with civilian involvement in their place.
Member of Parliament Yuliya Yatsyk, who is part of the TIC, explained that TRC employees are military personnel who could be deployed to combat zones. According to Yatsyk, the current TRC personnel could form more than 10 full-fledged brigades.
The TIC report is pending review in Parliament, after which it will be put to a vote. However, the resolution to approve it has not yet been presented for a vote, as this would entail extending the TIC’s mandate for another year—a move that, according to Yatsyk, faces resistance from senior military leadership.
