Owing to Shevchenko and public outcry pro-russian collaborators recuse themselves from the NOC

Andriy Shevchenko refused to work for the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine – he doesn’t want to be around pro-Russian collaborators Hryhoriy Surkis and Nestor Shufrych.

“In the most difficult time in the history of my country, I am proud to be next to Ukraine and help as much as I can for the sake of our victory. I consider it an honorable job in the National Olympic Committee and I understand the importance of its development. At the same time, I can not stay in the NOC with such a composition.

We pay an infinitely high price for our freedom with lives of the best Ukrainians. We must be worthy of them,” Shevchenko said.

Recall that the list of NOC members from sports federations included, among others, Grigory Surkis and Kremlin agent Nestor Shufrych – both were members of the pro-Russian “Party of Regions” and later – “Opposition Platform –  For Life”.

Hryhoriy Surkis and Nestor Shufrych will leave the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

It is unclear who was more frightened, Surkis and Shufrych, or those who appointed them. But the public outcry has done its work and members of Opposition platform – For life have written applications to recuse themselves. They have already appealed to the NOC President Vadim Gutzeit.
