More than UAH 1.6 billion raised to restore Okhmatdyt, – Ministry of Health

The total amount of funds raised for the restoration of Okhmatdyt exceeded UAH 1.6 billion, of which UAH 400 million will be provided in the form of medical equipment.

This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Health.

In particular, UAH 312 million was transferred directly to the account of the Ohmatdyt hospital, UAH 379 million to the account of the Omkhatdyt – Healthy Childhood Charitable Foundation, and more than UAH 320 million was raised as part of a joint fundraising campaign by United24 and monobank, which transferred directly to the Ministry of Health account at the National Bank.

In addition, $11.2 million was allocated by The Howard G. Buffett Foundation for the purchase of a complete list of damaged equipment in the modern building of Okhmatdyt (to be delivered in the form of equipment), $1 million came from the Lithuanian government, and UAH 100 million was allocated by the Ukrainian government.

What is known about the scandal with the repair of Okhmatdyt buildings

As reported earlier, the Okhmatdyt Charitable Foundation chose Bud-Technology LLC as the winner of the selection of a contractor to repair the hospital building, which was damaged by a rocket attack in July, using funds raised by donors.

At the same time, Okhmatdyt decided to hold the tender not according to the rules of the Law on Public Procurement, but in the form of a private competition “for the purpose of open and fair use of funds donated by citizens.”

A total of 14 participants submitted applications for participation in this selection, with their price offers ranging from UAH 41.79 million to UAH 645.25 million (excluding VAT). As a result, the Okhmatdyt Charitable Foundation chose the third most expensive offer from Bud-Technology LLC worth UAH 307 million.

At the same time, the company with a charter capital of UAH 5,000 has never participated in public tenders before, and the prices for construction materials in its bid are sometimes twice as high as those of competitors, Nashi Groshi reported.

After the scandal, the results of this tender were canceled, and Health Minister Viktor Liashko promised to announce a new tender for the reconstruction of the Ohmatdyt National Specialized Children’s Hospital, with its terms to be determined by a special working group.

The funds raised by the hospital itself, United24, The Howard G. Buffett Foundation, and the governments of Lithuania and Ukraine were not included in the tender. These funds will be used in compliance with the established requirements under the scrutiny of the Ministry of Health and the public.
