Director of NABU, Semen Kryvonos, has dismissed Gizo Uglava

He was dismissed following the results of a disciplinary proceeding, which confirmed the facts of pressure on the whistleblowing detective.

It is evidently about the pressure on the detective who reported potential leaks of information in the NABU case regarding the corruption schemes of “Big Construction” benefiting a figure in this case, Yuriy Golik.

Recall that Uglava is likely involved in leaking information in the “Big Construction” case. This was previously confirmed by investigative journalists from @bihusinfo.

NABU also notes that Uglava’s actions created a perception among Bureau employees of potential negative consequences for whistleblowing activities.

What does this mean?

▪ First, that the Bureau’s internal cleansing mechanisms have worked, albeit not without obstacles and problems.

▪ Second, that within the Bureau, the culture of respect for procedures and rules prevails, regardless of names.

This is all good. Is this the end? Definitely not, as there is still a lot of work ahead in determining the causes and conditions for the situation that arose, correcting these problems, continuing pre-trial investigations, and ultimately conducting an impartial audit.

The situation has shown that NABU has things to fix, but it also seems to have people who can do it.

It is clear that Uglava will attempt to reinstate himself through the courts and will use all possible resources for this. As already understood, Uglava will blackmail the authorities to assist in the legal processes.

Recently, he involved the head of NACP and his former protégé Viktor Pavlushchyk to convince everyone that he is indeed the true whistleblower.

However, in reality, Uglava only began to complain after service and criminal investigations were initiated against him, which logically contradicts the principle of whistleblowers.
