The Russian army is accumulating reserves for a new offensive in May

As reported by Realna Gazeta, the Russian occupation army is accumulating reserves to launch a new offensive on the front in May of this year.

This was announced by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalеnkо.

“Russia is preparing reserves for another attempt at a breakthrough on the front in May,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Kovalеnkо did not specify which part of the front the Russian command plans to launch the offensive.

Today, analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated that the Russian army is preparing for a large-scale offensive in the Lyman direction.

The ISW reminded that earlier this year, the Russians carried out a series of successful attacks that allowed them to cross the Zherebets River. They have established themselves on its right bank and have been expanding their foothold over the last three months.

Analysts note that the occupiers are using their numerical advantage to advance. In this area of the front, it is allegedly a 10-to-1 advantage in favor of the Russian army.

The ISW also reported that the Russian command is reinforcing the 3rd and 144th Motorized Rifle Divisions. These units have been stationed in the Lyman direction since 2023 and have not been rotated for rest or recovery during this time.

As reported by Realna Gazeta, today, April 2, analysts from the Ukrainian project DeepState stated that Russian forces have advanced near the village of Srybne on the Pokrovsk direction.

The day before, on April 1, DeepState reported that the occupiers had seemingly made progress in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.
