The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the strike on the Tambov Gunpowder Plant and several other facilities in Russia
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the strike on the Tambov Gunpowder Plant and several other facilities in Russia.
During the night of June 11, units of the UAV Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with other components of the Defense Forces, struck a number of important targets on the territory of the aggressor country, the Russian Federation. This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In particular, the Ukrainian military confirmed the strike on the facilities of the Tambov Gunpowder Plant, which was followed by a fire on the premises. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, the plant ceased operations following the overnight attack.
“This is one of the key facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex involved in the armed aggression against Ukraine. It produces gunpowder for various types of small arms, artillery and rocket systems, as well as collodion cotton, which is used in the production of various explosives,” the statement reads.
In addition, the General Staff reported recorded explosions near an ammunition depot of the 106th Russian Airborne Division in the Kursk region, as well as near the storage facilities of the Buturlinovka airfield in Russia’s Voronezh region. The results of the strikes are being clarified.
“The Defense Forces continue to take all necessary measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian occupiers and to force the Russian Federation to end its armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.
Ukraine regularly carries out attacks on military facilities located within the territory of the aggressor state, the Russian Federation.
In recent months, Ukraine has primarily targeted oil and gas infrastructure—such as refineries, oil depots, and gas terminals—as well as military airfields in Russia, using drones.
The Tambov Gunpowder Plant has already been targeted in drone attacks, including in January 2025, as well as in June and November 2023.
